Researching something completely different, I stumbled onto this installation by Autumn de Wilde titled Lighting, Layers and Reflections, and fifteen open-jawed, racing-pulsed, tingly-skinned minutes later I am still speechless (and homesick for my wild west deserts.) “I designed the sculptures so that they would interact and transform with the landscape as the sun rose, passed over us and set.”—Autumn de Wilde
P.S. Evidently this project was commissioned for an Escalade ad campaign, but that doesn’t even slightly diminish my new obsession to hunt them down and bask in their jewel-y light. Thank you for the discovery The Jealous Curator.
Having traded her Park Slope apartment for a South American villa, my friend Mara is loving expat life in Ecuador. Her rave reviews about the fresh air, calm lifestyle, and amazing food of her new home have bumped Ecuador to the top of our wanderlust list. Mara is hosting a wellness retreat this month, and I soooo wish I could jump on a plane and join her for a week of delicious raw food and meditation. Instead, I was happy to help her brand the event—dreaming of tropical fruits and flowers as I collaged them onto the ad. The retreat is almost full, but I believe there are a few spots left which I recommend wholeheartedly—aside from the beauty of Ecuador, Mara and Danny are two of the best souls you will ever know.
