“Each letter should have a flirtation with the one next to it.”—Mac Baumwell
Its been a while now, but I was pumped when Mike and Cambri granted me carte blanche to create their wedding stationery. Having known Mike (nicknamed EMV) since our hijinx-y college days, I couldn’t shake the idea of a long-running joke and standard fist-bump greeting—”Blow it up, dawg”. I met this guy as he bounced on a pogo stick, and the couple had chosen to rent out an arcade for their rehearsal dinner: I knew we needed something bold and playful. The first card was letterpressed with black ink and a big negative space where we affixed a mini black envelope, wrapped with a banner-shaped sticker, (Cambri cut full page printed sticker sheets into the ribbon shape), which hinted at the envelopes contents…
(This is the back of the envelope with a surprise tucked inside.)
Voila! The party is started!
The subsequent cards elaborated the details of the super fun day. One of my favorite elements was the groom’s sole request— that his Frenchie, Lil’ Mike, be included somehow. (After all he was the day’s second star, only a notch below the beautiful bride.) Can you spy him? Happy 1.5 year Anniversary you crazy kids, thanks for letting me have so much fun both at your awesome wedding and making these invitations.
